Why Organic
Having your lawn treated with chemical fertilizers and pesticides will improve your lawn. However, there are many health problems associated with exposure to the pesticides applied. According to the E.P.A., University studies and medical reports , constant exposure to these lawn care chemicals may cause cancer, especially in pregnant women, young children and pets! (see pesticides An unacceptable Risk)
Take a look at the photograph on the left. It shows a beautiful green, weed free lawn. This beautiful lawn is what every homeowner hopes for! This new home is being treated five times a year with chemical fertilizers along with pesticides (for insect control) herbicides (for weed control) and fungicides (for lawn disease controls). It also shows a New York State law Posting sign. In 1986, New York state passed the Pesticide posting sign law due to the rising rate of cancers (Long island has the highest rate of breast cancer followed by Rockland county). The sign warns people to stay off the newly treated lawn for 24 hours as exposure to the pesticides may cause health problems. Also the lawn service is required by law, to provide the homeowner Material data safety sheets containing the pesticides used and any health warnings!
Now look at the picture on the right. It also shows a beautiful weed free lawn. This lawn is being treated five times a year, but only with Organic fertilizers and natural weed controls. However, no posting sign is required by law, due to the fact that this lawn is being treated with all natural products. This lawn is safe for all human beings! Treating a lawn with organics will also create a beautiful green, weed free lawn! So why would you want your lawn treated with something dangerous, rather than treated with something that is safe?
Treating your lawn with organics will:
1. Create a lush green, weed free lawn with a healthy, productive soil.

LAWN CARE HISTORY
Having a great looking lawn has been popular for hundreds of years. Especially, in England and many other European countries . Lawn care has been important for a very long time. In 1613, a Englishman, Gervas Marhan wrote a book called “Ways to get wealthy”. In his book, Gervas described in detail how to plant, grow, and maintain a green lawn! He encouraged his readers that a man could grow wealthy by fixing up lawns for the rich! He also encouraged his readers to rent sheep to mow their lawns! And this is 1613! Even William Shakespeare, said that having a great looking lawn, showed a successful person! They all used natural ingredients, since synthetics were yet to be invented. It is a known fact, that there were beautiful lawns from before the middle ages till today! Kentucky bluegrass, the most popular grass blend today, was introduced to America in 1760! The first commercial mower was invented in 1830! To control weeds, they used simple vinegar! Others used sugar, beet oils, clove oils or cinnamon oils. Even today, most of Europe uses only natural products to maintain their lawns & landscaping.
0Note: Europe has the lowest cancer rates in the world, America has the highest cancer rates, and 98% still use chemicals to maintain their lawns, which leads us to modern lawn care today!
Modern automated lawns began around the 1960’s. Sears Roebuck started Lawn-a Mat then they became Chemlawn, Lawn Doctor, Scott’s and many others followed. The services they offered started with just a simple weed & feed fertilization program, and the homeowner had a great beautiful lawn in a fairly short period of time. For the next 5 decades this continued. However, to achieve and please their customers, they had to apply High nitrogen chemical fertilizers (Which pollute our waters), Pesticides to kill lawn damaging bugs (Most of which cause cancers) and Herbicides to get rid of weeds (Most of which cause cancers in pets). In 1986, New York state passed the Pesticide posting law and recently, most communities passed a neighborhood notification law.
As you can see, using all natural products has been the method used for a very long time in improving lawns! Europe uses them still to this day. However, here in America, with the highest cancer rates in the world!! Has our society become so vain, that it is more important to have that perfect green lawn, than it is to worry about our health? Think about that!!
If we fast forward five years from now, is the United States the only developed country in the world, that will sill be using these chemicals and pesticides? I’d like to think not. I hope not. But with the deep pockets of the “chemical” lawn care Industry, They can reach millions of homeowners by their T.V. and direst mail advertising and spread their lies such as:
1. Organics don’t work
2. They are slow to give you results
3. They smell up your yard.
.4. They are very expensive.
5. And the biggest lie of all, Their chemicals are safe!
If these were all true, then how come:
I have hundreds of satisfied customers that constantly refer my company to others?
70% of my customers have been using my services for 15 years and more.
All companies that offer organic lawn care services are growing each year?
“Chemical” lawn care services are now offering organic based programs, when they have been telling homeowners for many, many years the 5 lies above?
