PESTICIDES & YOU.
An Unacceptable Risk

Homeowners have been taught if they see insects in their home, insects on their shrubs, Ants in their lawn is to immediately kill them with pesticides! Either you will do it yourself, or your hire a pest control company or landscaper.    Did you ever stop to think what you are actually doing?

Pesticide (“-cide” means kill) will kill everything they come in contact with (bad bugs but along with beneficial insects, organisms and birds), their “residue”  last for many months.  Pesticide spraying is especially destructive with Tree services as their ’spray drift” extends from beyond the target area (Trees & shrubs)  This spray drift goes into the woods, streams and lakes.

This has been the norm for many decades and continues today!

In 1986,  New York State passed the “Pesticide posting sign law”  When after any pesticides have been applied, a warning/posting sign must be placed on the property for 24 hour.. Why?  Because studies by the E.P.A.,medical findings have shown that exposure to pesticides may harm human health.  In 1997, Westchester county passed a neighborhood notification law. When pesticides are to be applied, the company doing the treatment must notify the neighbors surrounding the target property  This law was soon enacted by many cities and towns across America. Why?

In 2002, The Mt. Sina school of medicine published a series of articles  in the New York times, linking pesticide exposure to brain damage in children,  Parkinson’s disease , Hodgkin disease bone & skin cancers in pets to name a few. This vital information was largely ignored by the main stream media and the public, why?

Canada has now outlawed all lawn care chemicals & pesticides Why?  All across America Cities and towns are restricting or outlawing pesticides  Why?

For many, many decades, Homeowners have been told by their lawn, Tree and landscape services that pesticides are ’safe”  and people believe them!  They still do!  All chemical lawn & tree services are enjoying fast growth of their business!  Despite  the ever growing evidence linking lawn & garden pesticides with serious human & pet health issues along with environmental damage,  people  are ignoring this evidence!   Why?

Why?  Because a large percentage of homeowners want a super green, weed free lawn! at any cost! And they want it now!  They just don’t care! Even when one of their friends or relatives gets cancer! (See lawn obsession)
